Domani

"Domani" means tomorrow in Italian. If you're coming here, learn it. "When will the furniture be delivered?" Domani. "Do we have recycling in our area?" Domani. "Will they ever pick up the trash again?" Domani. "When will our phone and internet be installed?" Domani. Very frustrating when the answer to just about every question is, you guessed it, Domani! At first I thought the Italians were being rude by answering every question with "Domani".
Having been here almost a year, I now have a new theory on the "Domani" factor. I'm sure that sometimes they are simply putting our questions off, because they aren't sure of the answer. Other times they don't want to tell us, "No", and still other times they know the answer to our question but the language barrier gets in the way, and when all else fails they know that we know what "Domani" means.  It becomes  a "catch all" answer used by everyone. Italian and American alike.
Having said that, have YOU started planning your vacation to Italy? Here's the next Italian word to put into your vocabulary, "Oggi". It means today. Start planning your Italian vacation to see us OGGI! Don't put off till domani what you can do oggi! Until next time, Ciao!
