The Eagle has Landed!

we finally arrived in naples, around 2:00pm saturday, after leaving atlanta at 4:40pm the night before. we are all exhausted and delirious. i went to sleep at 6pm and slept for 3 hours, looked at the clock which said 9:00 and thought i'd slept until 9 the next morning. i even got my clothes ready to take a shower before i looked outside and realized it was dark!!

it is very humbling being in a country where you do not speak the language. i always tried to empathize with my students who were just coming to the U.S. from Mexico and didn't speak a word of english. i am so glad i did. i have had several people in the short time that we've been here, start speaking to me in italian, and i know the fear, and frustration that my student's experienced.

it is 3am naples time, and jeff and i are awake and have been since midnight. yay for jet lag. luckily kass and jake are getting some zzz's. they both did so well on the plane coming here. we have dragged these kids half way across the u.s. (from ok to ga) and then halfway across the world in coming to italy. viva italia!


email will be the best way to keep in touch with us, especially at first. once we have a phone, i will of course pass that along. please keep in mind the 7 hour time difference from naples to oklahoma. (we will be 7 hours ahead of you)
